Friends of Mekong Quilts (Aus) Inc is an Australian Registered Charity supporting poverty reduction programs in Vietnam and Cambodia.

History

After volunteering in Vietnam with Thiên Chí as a Fundraising Trainer for 12 months in 2013, Sandra Robinson was overwhelmed by the level of poverty still existing in some of the rural communities in Vietnam. Thiên Chí and it's dedicated team of local staff were making a huge contribution in raising the standard of living in the rural communities of Binh Thuận Province.

To assist Mekong Quilts (a non profit social enterprise supported by Thiên Chí) establish a marketplace in Australia, Sandra assisted in establishing this not-for profit organisation to help carry on this grassroots community work.

Friends of Mekong Quilts (Aus) Inc was established in April 2020 on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, as an Australian not for profit organisation to provide much needed ongoing support for Mekong Quilts and Thiên Chí. Registration as an Australian Charity (Public Benevolent Institution) was approved by the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission, effective from 16 May 2020.

Purpose

To promote Mekong Quilts handicrafts in Australia and support Thiên Chí with their ongoing community programs to reduce poverty in Bình Thuận Province, Vietnam.

Friends of Mekong Quilts (Aus) Inc aims to promote the sale of Mekong Quilts handicrafts in Australia.
Fundraising events to support the work of Thiên Chí's community projects will be held from time to time. ALL donations and funds raised are directed to Thiên Chí to continue their grassroots work with those families living in poverty.
